Maths Tapawaru

I am learning how to sort fractions with different denominators.

I'll know I can do this when I can order fractions based on their size.

Something I learned was to use division in grouping fractions.

Learner Qualities

I am learning how to communicate.

I'll know I can do this when I can show a variety of ways to show communicate.

One way I  can communicate well is by talking and keeping eye contact.

Art Attack Don Binney

We are learning to create art inspired by Don Binney.

I'll know I can do this when I have created a landscape with a foreground, middle, and background.

My bird and my background are coloured using pastels and natural colours.

Something I learned was that art doesn't always have to be neat because that might not be what the artist wants.

Writing: Information Report

I am learning to write an information report.

I'll know I can do this when I can plan and write an information reports with a title, topic sentence, and a group of facts about a subject.

Something I will do next time is remember to put capital letters at the start of my sentences.

This is my Blue Duck Report:

Reading Whio

I am learning to apply my prior knowledge to a text.

I'll know I can do this when I can think of ways I have connections to a text and I can use those connections to help decode unfamiliar words and ideas.

Something I learned is that I need to ask myself 'what do I already know?' when I am reading.

Peace Week 2017

I have been learning about Peace Week.
Peace Week is an annual tradition organised by The Peace Foundation every year. You can learn more about The Peace Foundation by following this LINK.

As a way to learn about Peace Week I did three different Peace Week activities.

With Miss Brennan we created a poster to help promote peace and Peace Week.
With Mrs Baker we made hand print doves and wrote messages of peace on them.
With Mr Horn we looked at the symbols of peace such as the dove and created origami doves.

Here is an example of one of my activities

Student Led Conference

My highlight at my student led conference was sharing the maths games because they are fun.

I am most proud of sharing my monster soup because some of the words end with ly.

I think my parents enjoyed it because I learned how to do partitioning.

Next time I would like to do it slow and take my time.

Reading

My learning goal this term is recognise and use new vocabulary.

I can do this by trying again until I get it right.

This photo shows my learning.

Procedural Writing.

WALHT write a procedure.
Something I learned about writing a procedure is write a set of instructions.
Something I would like to do better is to put in more adverbs in my writing.
Here is my learning.

Writing

WALHT add a twist to our writing

Here is my poem:

I didn’t see a flag in the moon
I didn’t see a flying piglet
I didn’t see a silly emoji
BUT i did see Beauty and the Beast

I didn’t eat a fish
I didn’t eat a town
I didn’t eat a 100 pigs
BUT i did eat McDonalds

I didn’t go to Auckland
I didn’t go to the moon
I didn’t go to the beach

BUT I did go trampolining
